RAF singers for BFBS

Gatow duo on the air

Although the extremely popular RAF Gatow folk group "The Yeomen" broke up seven months ago, two of its members look like putting the station back on the folk singing map.

For, after hearing a test recording by Junior Technician Ray Deer and Sgt Pete Grannon — both of 26 Signals Unit — the British Forces Broadcasting Service has offered them a regular spot in the weekly magazine programme "Here and There".

The duo's first performance was heard on last week's show, and they featured again on Thursday, February 23rd. They will record further material at the Cologne studio early next month, and the producer, Mr. John Russell, plans to make them a regular feature.

Comments Mr. Russell: "We like to encourage service talent, and we think this particular duo has great potential. We are very impressed with their performance."

The Yeomen made a big impact during their six months' formation. Apart from performances in the British and American sectors, the group held weekly "Hootenanny" sessions at Gatow's "Airbridge Club" which attracted capacity audiences.
